We strive to have a very active PTA, that partners between the administration, teachers, families, and the community to make Mountain View a great place for our children. But, we need your help to accomplish this. Whether you’re interested in serving on a specific committee or as a general volunteer on as-needed basis, the MVES PTA would love to have your help!

We have several opportunities for parents and families to volunteer to assist with on a one-time basis with one of the various events or activities the PTA sponsors. We will send out sign-up genius links for these opportunities to all PTA members! Additional opportunities will be added as they are identified.

All-Pro Dads
A program that hosts monthly meetings, allowing dads to strengthen the bond with their children while connecting with the school community. Responsible for planning & leading meetings, including a plan for breakfast. Coordinating with other dads for volunteer opportunities & helping with occasional carpool or lunch supervision.
Ambassadors
Welcomes new families and provides guidance, resources, and information they may need, including the New Family Information Guide. Hosts school tours, Cheers and Tears for new kindergarten parents, Kindergarten Orientation for rising kindergarteners, and Senior Send-Off for high school senior alumni.
Art in Education: Art Show
Responsible for working with the art teacher to coordinate 2 art shows per year.
Community Outreach
Identifies, organizes, and completes service projects during the school year for the benefit of our local community. Works with local organizations, including Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts in MVES, to spark interest and enthusiasm and instills the importance of helping others through various and diverse forms of service.
Contests: Reflections Contest & Heroes Essay Contest
Reflections is a National PTA program that encourages artistic expression in dance, film, music, literature, visual arts, and photography. This committee supports the music and art teachers, enriches the curriculum with fine arts programs, and highlights the importance of the arts (visual arts, music, theater, and dance) by promoting the Reflections Contest, collecting submissions, and coordinating with the ECCC Reflections Chair for submission of winning entries. Heroes is a school contest that promotes literacy. This committee coordinates the annual, school wide, written essay contest that celebrates everyday heroes.
Curriculum Support
Works with teams of teachers, lead teachers from each grade level, and specialty teachers (Art, Music, PE, Target, Special Ed, Speech and Language, and Guidance) to provide instructional materials that support the curriculum. Coordinates with school staff to provide resources not funded by the district. These materials and resources are budgeted and funded by our local PTA.
Environment
Focuses on the school garden, recycling, and environmental education.
Family Engagement: BBQ & Bingo
Responsible for coordinating the annual BBQ & Bingo Night. This event is provides families with a laidback and fun first event of the school year.
Family Engagement: Family Dance
Responsible for coordinating the annual Family Dance Night.
Family Engagement: Fall Festival
Responsible for coordinating the annual Fall Festival. This event is planned and executed by a group of committee chairs responsible for organizing ticket sales, publicizing the event, recruiting volunteers, arranging for food and beverages, activities and games, bounce houses, and tons of prizes.
Family Engagement: Popsicles on the Playground
Responsible for coordinating the annual Popsicles on the Playground event before school starts to welcome our incoming kindergarteners.
Family Engagement: International Showcase
Responsible for coordinating the annual International Night. This event provides an opportunity for students, faculty, staff, and community to experience diversity, try ethnic food, and learn about different countries.
Family Engagement: Movie Night
Community event that can be held indoors (gym/cafeteria) or on the field, featuring G-rated films, concessions, and family fun to build school spirit or raise funds. Setting up concessions like popcorn and designing flyers or social media to promote the event.
Family Engagement: STEAM & Skittles
Responsible for coordinating the annual STEAM & Skittles Night. This event brings community partners together to demonstrate that STEAM is involved in all aspects of our lives. Each community partner provides a different STEAM station for the students to rotate through.
Fundraising: Partners in Education Spirit Nights
Solicits, organizes, and communicates with community business partners to provide support for our school at a variety of functions. Works closely with the school’s representative responsible for our Partners in Education. Promotes important relationships with our business community who support our PTA.
Fundraising: Silent Auction
Works with the Fall Festival Committee to gather auction items, promote the auction and solicit support and volunteers for the event.
Fundraising: Sponsorship
Works with community partners to secure sponsorships.
Fundraising: Talent Show
Community-building event showcasing student acts like singing, dancing, and comedy. Organizing involves early planning for auditions, rehearsals, and parent volunteers. Acts are often limited to 2-3 minutes. Event can double as fundraisers through ticket sales, concessions, stuffed animals, or flower sales.
Health and Wellness
Plans programs to encourage nutrition and healthy, active lifestyles. Monitors legislative issues that pertain to the health and wellness of children. Coordinates Walk to School days, Walk the Track Days and Wellness Wednesdays.
Media Support: Book Fairs
Hosts two to three book fairs throughout the school year by coordinating with the media specialists, organizes decorations, and recruits volunteers to work shifts.
Membership & Spirit Wear
This committee is responsible for data input of PTA members, collating membership benefit packets and cards, and ensuring that they are distributed to all members in a timely manner. It also entails working with the Treasurer each month to submit appropriate forms to Georgia PTA. Encourages school spirit, primarily through spirit wear available for sale on Mountain View PTA Website. Responsible for selecting a company for production, placing orders, and distributing orders to students.
Room Representative Liaison
Ensures that all homeroom classes have a room rep, provides information packets to each room rep with both general information relevant to all classes as well as classroom specific information (such as teacher birthdays, favorite treats, etc.). Creates standard letters, approved by the school administration. Ensures accurate bi-annual accounting of classroom donations collected at the beginning of each new school year.
Special Student Services: Compassion Week
Supports the needs of diverse learning communities including Special Needs and the Advanced Learning Programs. Recognizes and promotes each student’s abilities.
Student Support Program
Responsible for coordinating our Student Support Program. Distributes snacks to bins in teacher work rooms, monitors snack levels and reorders additional snacks as needed, and coordinates monthly Fresh Fruit Friday events.
Staff Appreciation
Through the help of a large committee, organizes events throughout the year to recognize the efforts of our teachers and staff. Also organizes volunteers to participate in events that recognize Mountain View’s Teacher of the Year.
Technology: Website & Volunteers
Provides updates and maintains the Mountain View PTA website and calendar as necessary. Creates and maintains a database for volunteer information and assists with organization of volunteers for committee events using online sign-up services. Provides recommendations for software and technology automations to support PTA and committee activities.
Technology: Social Media & Marketing
Creates informational social media and marketing posts. Collects posts from all committees and schedules them on our PTA social media pages.
Yearbook
Organizes volunteers to capture candid photos at school events throughout the year, creates visual layout of the yearbook, and orders/distributes the final product at the end of the school year.
